Tomiwa Aladekomo, CEO Of Big Cabal Media, To Speak At NECLive8

Tomiwa Aladekomo, one of Africa’s most brilliant media practitioners, will speak at the 2021 edition of the annual Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive).

NECLive, the biggest gathering of professionals in the Nigerian entertainment industry, will hold on Sunday, April 25, 2021. The event is returning as a hybrid media event, combining a studio set-up of selected speakers with a live global broadcast on cable TV and online.

Tomiwa Aladekomo

Tomiwa Aladekomo graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Boston, Massachusetts. He also holds a Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University in New York, and in 2013 he earned a fellowship from the Archbishop Tutu Leadership Programme.

Between 2007 and 2008, Aladekomo worked as an Art Manager at Atlantic Records, one of the world’s biggest music labels. In 2008 he joined Thisday Newspapers, where he played the role of Online Editor and Event Producer until July 2009.

In 2009, Aladekomo founded Quirk, a branding and event production company. Under his leadership, Quirk produced many high-profile events, including Fela In Lagos, Music Meets Runway, FBN Capital’s Investor Conference, and Stanbic IBTC’s mobile money launch, among others.

Between 2013 and 2016, Aladekomo served as  Senior Digital Manager at Nigerian Breweries Plc, where he directed digital media strategy for brands like Star, Heineken, Gulder, Maltina and Fayrouz. In 2016, Ventra Media Group, a digital media agency, appointed him as Managing Director, which he held until December 2017. At Ventra, he created digital content for clients like Guardian Nigeria, DStv and Opera Mini.

In 2018, Aladekomo was appointed as the CEO of Big Cabal Media, an indigenous media company whose products – Tech Cabal and Zikoko – create super-engaging content that resonates with the African youth. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at infotech solutions company ChamsSwitch Plc, and he currently sits as director at real estate company – Smart City Resorts Plc.

NECLive8 is organised by ID Africa in partnership with Huce Valeris, AV Edge, 7even Interactive, HipTV, Megalectrics, EDS, Big Cabal Media, and BHM, and with sponsorship support from Nigerian Breweries and MultiChoice.

Femi Falodun, CEO of ID Africa, has hailed Aladekomo’s contributions to the Nigerian media space. “Beyond the remarkable work Tomiwa is doing with Big Cabal Media, he also brings to the table many years of corporate and global brand marketing experience,” said Falodun, confirming Aladekomo’s participation at NECLive8. “We look forward to having him share unique insights from the world of marketing, media, and tech on the NECLive8 stage,” Falodun said.

Other speakers for this year’s event include Nigerian comedians Bovi and Basketmouth; co-founder, Future Africa, Flutterwave and Andela, Iyin Aboyeji; Nollywood star, Dakore Egbuson-Akande; and founder of the Temple Management Company, Idris Olorunnimbe. Media personality Bolanle Olukanni will serve as the host for this edition.

For over 7 years, NECLive has attracted more than 12,000 physical participants and 20 million viewers and audiences on television and digital. Nigerian Entertainment Conference (often stylized as NECLive), with the hashtag #NECLive, is an umbrella conference for the entertainment industry in Nigeria, which continually discusses the trajectory of the sector and shapes the discourse and practices surrounding it.
