The Tinsel Love Story: All The Couples That Emerged From The Show

People are constantly finding love in the weirdest places – at the bank, barber’s shop, on a queue at the Canadian Visa office, or even on social media. Only a few people ever find love at their place of work. And when they do, they have to fight through all of the ‘work affair’ drama to make things work.

However, some ‘places of business’ have proven to be the most conducive grounds to find love. One of such places is the set of ‘Tinsel’. The television show started airing in August 2008. With 13 years and close to 3000 episodes, it is arguably the longest-running drama series currently on Nigerian TV. But it has done more than just thrilling millions of Nigerians. It has also brought love to the lives of its cast members. Here are all the couples that have emerged from ‘Tinsel’ over the years.

They continued to grow their relationship on the drama series set and announced their engagement on November 4, 2018. They got married seven days later. The couple has continued to grow stronger in love since their wedding. They welcomed their first child, Keon Iman Suleiman on July 9, 2020.

They were the first couple to get married on the show. Their characters on ‘Tinsel’, ‘Chuks’ and ‘Ene’ were on-screen lovers. Somehow, their love translated beyond the script and into real life. They got married on April 17, 2013, and are still very much in love. The couple welcomed their first girl in 2014 and their first boy in 2016. The lovebirds are constantly showing off how blessed they are with the cutest photos on social media, and we are here for it!

3. Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh

The couple worked side by side on the ‘Tinsel’ set for years and naturally gravitated towards each other. They began what was one of the hottest Nollywood relationships afterwards, and fans adored them. In August 2014, Chris popped the question on a boat cruise in the United States, and the actress said yes. Damilola, who was already heavily pregnant at the time of the proposal, gave birth a month later. On September 6, 2014, she gave birth to their son – Brian Nii Ayittey Olaferomi Attoh. They got married on February 14, 2015, but the marriage didn’t last long. The couple got divorced in September 2017. Chris remarried Bettie Jennifer in 2018, but she was unfortunately murdered a year later in the U.S.

4. Osas Ighodaro and Gbenro Ajibade

For a while, the couple had one of the most loved celebrity relationships. Fans liked how their on-screen romance seemed to have permeated into their real life. The couple had their traditional wedding in Benin City on June 20, 2015. It was a well-attended wedding, broadcast on one of the biggest TV networks in the country. They later had their white wedding in the United States of America. The couple welcomed their first child in 2016. Everything seemed fine until Gbenro called out the actress for neglecting their child on February 17, 2019. In December that same year, he confirmed in an interview with Ebuka Obi – Uchendu that they had finalised their divorce. Neither Osas nor Gbenro has remarried, and they both say their relationship is cordial.

The 3000th episode of the popular soap opera, Tinsel, airs on January 21, 2021, at 7:30 pm (WAT) on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151).
