How Asake Is Making Fashion Statements With His Work Of Art Tour Wardrobe

At 11:10 pm, when Asake went backstage for an unknown reason at his historic sold-out 02 Arena show, fans of the music star were bewildered at his actions. Weeks after his concert, his stylist, Raya, revealed that he had gone in for an outfit change for his next stage. Unfortunately, we were unable to bask in the artistry and intricacies behind the pants he showed up in due to time constraints.

Soon, fans had the opportunity to witness his brilliance and unique style on stage again. This time, he became the first African artiste to sell out the 19,000-capacity Barclays Centre, and the thought put into his choice of outfits stood out once again as his styling team shocked us with his wardrobe.

From his 02 Arena concert, where he wore a Mowalola piece with an engineered light modified by his design and garment technology lead Linda Calixie, to his iconic denim custom-made Schappareli look paired with accessories from their Fall / Winter 2021 accessories and jewellery collection, every single outfit has affirmed Asake’s position of wanting to push the boundaries of style with his outfit choices. Considering that his sophomore album is themed ‘Work of Art’ with reference to Jean-Michel Basquiat, an iconic Neo-expressionism artist who was known for painting canvases wearing paint-splattered Armani Jackets, smart sunglasses (classic Wayfarers) and geometric designs by Issey Miyake; he had to commit to the look.

He committed to it again at the Barclays concert as he channelled his inner biker in his Alpinestars look. His styling team brilliantly paired their A-10 V2 full chest protector with the missile leather pants and boots as he pranced around the stage with a bike at the side of the stage for props. He soon went to change into a fitted blue foil denim set paired with the $31,175 Vanson Fly Geenius Bone Flat W/ Heart jacket.

Two sold-out shows and 25 career nominations after the music star is constantly pushing himself, and showing an understanding of art with his style, music themes, and overall carriage. We are looking forward to what his team has in store for us for his next sold-out concert.
