How Yasmeen Ntwari Styled Davido In High Fashion Pieces For New Music Video

If Davido’s wardrobe was transformed into a capsule wardrobe, blinged-out outfits and diamond accessories are some fashion pieces making it into the capsule. He has always loved his diamonds, whether it’s with his streetstyle-inspired outfits or somewhat formal outfits, diamonds are a staple. So it was not a surprise when the singer was styled in an iconic imitation of an outfit from the Balmain Resort Collection by his stylist Yasmeen Ntwari for his new music video.

In the visuals to ‘Feel,’ one of the viral singles off his highly acclaimed album ‘Timeless,’ Davido was adorned with high fashion pieces as he fought for the love of his life in the music video directed by TG Omori. The custom-made crystal blazer and cap set handcrafted by Xtrabrides Lagos was one outfit that caught the attention of many.

Aside from the fact that the design showcased Davido’s love for bling, the design in itself was creatively put together and is reminiscent of Olivier Rousteing’s design for the Balmain Resort Collection 2022.

The collection was inspired by the Arab World Institute exhibition that celebrated Arab Divas while telling the story of feminist struggles and the history of Arab women in countries caught up in the struggle for independence. Their use of jewellery at the exhibition particularly inspired the great chain-chinned baseball cap look that bears a semblance to Davido’s.

While exploring the various ends of street style and luxury, Yasmeen paired the Balenciaga men’s fake fur coat in neon with their steroid logo-embossed ankle boot, which was completed with white denim pants from the Denim Tears ‘The Cotton Wreath collection.’ She also got Silpa to make a custom denim look that channels Kanye West’s Donda era, where he paired bedazzled face masks with streetwear elements. She paired that look with custom-made wear from Manchester-based fashion brand Silpa.

From the masterful use of significant luxury pieces to tell the ‘Feel’ story, Yasmeen has once again shown that she is capable of making statements with fashion pieces without negating Davido’s love for luxury, and we love to see it.
