Gap Is Normalizing Breastfeeding With Their Latest Ad Featuring Nigerian Model Adaora Akubilo

Breastfeeding has been made into a very touchy subject and for the life of us, we can’t understand why. Something as normal as a mother feeding her child shouldn’t warrant this type of conversation but sadly, that’s where we are as a people. And it’s commendable that companies like Gap are playing their part in changing the conversation and normalizing breastfeeding.

The clothing label has tapped breastfeeding mother and model Adaora Akubilo as one of the faces of its latest campaign, to the delight of mothers and women all over the world.

The images featuring a mother wearing a soft cotton Gap t-shirt while nursing her baby were shared on the company’s Instagram page. The post has since garnered over 38,000 likes and thousands of comments lauding the ad and what it represents.

“WOW! Best ad campaign EVER! Thank you for this @gap,” one user wrote. “I need to find a Gap asap. I will give them my money just because of this ad,” another user commented. “Yes!!!!! More companies need to do the same, for women to know it’s okay and feel comfortable and for men to accept. Make it the norm!” yet another user wrote.

Let’s hope that more companies and brands will follow suit.
