How Dino Melaye Made Political Statement At Collation Centre With His $5,000 Givenchy Outfit

Dino Melaye earned the admiration of many young Nigerians on Monday, February 27, 2023, with his protest and mobilisation of other opposition parties at the national collation centre for the 2023 presidential election in Abuja.

Melaye who is the agent of the PDP at the collation centre sparked controversy when he first cited some irregularities in the results from Ekiti which was presented on Sunday night. He thereafter asked the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to mandate state collation officers to declare that the results they were presenting was the same as the results uploaded to the INEC portal as mandated by law and promised by the electoral commission. His position was supported by agents of the Labour Party, ADC and seven other parties who walked out of the collation centre following the refusal of the INEC chair to grant their request.

Amid his strong stance on the issue, it wasn’t just his voice and protest that made a political statement, his flashy luxury wears could not but be noticed. The former lawmaker donned a Givenchy Men’s Logo Varsity Jacket worth $3,320 and a $1,050 Givenchy BH0080 Tk-360 Plus Mid-Top sneakers. He paired this outfit with black track pants that bear a semblance to the Philipp Plein skull-print panelled trousers that cost $850.

He accessorised his outfit with a luxury wristwatch and his signature face cap encrusted with his initials SDM – Senator Dino Melaye.

However, this is not the first time he has shown up with luxury clothing items since the result collation process started on Sunday.

On Sunday, February 26, 2023, he wore a tracksuit from Balmain. He paired the tracksuit with the $95 Adidas Men’s Harden Stepback 2 Basketball Shoes. As usual, he also wore his signature face cap in red.

At the Labour Party and People Democratic Party’s Press Conference on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, where he was a moderator, the former Kogi Senator also went all out with his outfit. He wore a white and black ensemble.

His jean jacket had a black stripe at the sleeves, and he paired it with the $428 Balmain Logo-Print T-Shirt in black and white pants. For his sneakers, he wore the $1,200 Prada Cloudbust Thunder Platinum sneakers.

One thing Dino Melaye has proven amid the chaotic election which the opposition candidates have called for its cancellation is that nothing can ever affect his drip, and we love to see it as he continues to showcase his personality through his style.
